If any of you have never heard of Twinks Hob Nobs then I feel sad for you. The tastiest, most moreish biscuits ever, and so cheap to make. I guarantee these are better than any biscuits you’ll buy in the supermarket.
But why the name? Well, back in 2007 the question was posed on Moneysavingexpert.com – does anyone have a recipe for homemade hob nobs? The user named Twinks replied with her recipe and since then, the bicsuits have become part of money saving history and the thread is still active in 2016 with other users adding their own amendments and additions, including Rum & Raisin and Maple & Pecan versions. However, to me, the original will alway be the best, and I’ve replicated it below for fear of it vanishing from the forum. Enjoy!
Hobnob Recipe
Ingredients
8oz sr flour
8oz sugar
8oz porridge oats
8oz margarine
1tbsp golden syrup
1tbsp hot water
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
Instructions
Mix the flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan. Stir in bicarbonate of soda and add to dry mix. Then mix well and make into smallish balls which you then put on a greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork. Put in the oven at 180 degrees C for 15 mins… and cool on the tray. The aim is to get them golden in the oven not brown.
Ah, I’ve made these before! I didn’t know that they were referred to as Twinks though, lol! They are amazing, I must make some again soon. Thanks for posting the recipe.
